A black ground lacquer cage, profusely decorated overall with gold cherry blossom designs intertwined with two family mons (crests) cleverly constructed with gilt copper mounts enabling the structure to fold down flat. Believed to be a traveling decorative armour case. The two family mons are from the Hisamatsu Matsudaira and Sakai, both important Samurai families.
