16. Four Engravings

Four engravings after John Webber, the artist who accompanied Captain Cook on his last voyage to the North-West Passage in 1776-78.

a) Woman of Nootka Sound, a place on the coast of the Pacific Ocean on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, with wonderful woven fish adorned hat.

b) A large white bear found on the ice flows of the North-west coast of America. Possibly from the first painting of a polar bear.

c) A woman of Prince Williams sound on the northwest coast of America.

d) A Man of Cape Van Dieman in New Holland (Australia). His whole body adorned with magnificent tattoos.
