27. Fine Pair of WatercoloursChina. Early 19th century.
15" x 8" - 38cm x 20cm (ex frame)
The mandarin, sporting a fine beaver skin fur hat
and scarlet trimming, with a gilt and bejewelled
top-knot, with an attached two eyed peacock
feather, denoting a first rank official. His winter fur
surcoat with red mandarin beads, worn over a blue
dragon robe. His wife, with exotic gilt hair
ornaments, wearing a short winter fur coat, with
finely embroidered sleeve bands, over a pleated
skirt, she clasps a gilt copper hand warmer.
