A streaked limestone head of a
bodhisattva.The plump face carved with a
serene expression and delicate features,
below hair pulled up into a coiled
chignon behind a foliate scroll tiara.
(A Bodhisattva is one who has
theoretically attained the highest but
one of the ten states, through which an
individual must pass before he can
become a Buddha. But who renounces the
last stage in order to bring salvation
to all suffering mankind.)
